Applied Underwriters Named to Nation’s Top Ten Insurance Employers in 501+ Employees Category

Measure reflects favorable staff view of several factors affecting workplace and employment practices

Omaha -- Thursday, September 2, 2021 -- Applied Underwriters is among the top ten US employers in the category of 501+ employees, as recently announced in the results of an Insurance Business America survey of US insurers.

To be considered, each organization had to reach a minimum number of employee responses based on overall size. Organizations that achieved an 80% or greater average satisfaction rating from employees were named a Top Insurance Employer for 2021, according to the publication. In its Omaha based operations center and its offices across the country, Applied Underwriters employs more than 1,000 and enjoys one of the lowest turnover rates with one of the highest longevity of service rates among comparable businesses.

To determine the Top Insurance Employers, IBA surveyed “thousands of employees from companies across the country, asking them to weigh in on several aspects of their workplace, from compensation and benefits to employee development and culture.”

IBA noted: “Employees today are more vocal than ever before about what they expect from their employers. They want meaningful work, competitive salaries, great benefits, flexible work arrangements, clear development opportunities and a workplace culture built around diversity, equity and inclusion.”

The survey found that the size of the business didn’t seem to be a major factor in the quality of retirement programs, paid time off, education credits, career pathing and onboarding support. However, larger businesses were much more likely to have comprehensive benefits, along with robust DE&I programs. Other characteristics identified by the respondents included favorable corporate culture, great transparency and frequent communication and an atmosphere of collaboration. One respondent praised Applied Underwriters for “leadership and growth from within,” adding: “Young people often find true mentorship – both personal and professional – in our leaders, most of whom have grown in the organization themselves.”
